The Palestinian Center for Prisoners' Defense said that the statements made by the so-called Israeli Minister of National Security regarding the starvation of prisoners are conclusive evidence of a war crime against the prisoners and require urgent international accountability.
The center's statement on Thursday condemned the racist statements made by the Israeli Minister of National Security and war criminal, Itamar Ben-Gvir, in which he explicitly declared his pursuit of a systematic policy of depriving and starving Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons. This is a clear indication of his insistence on committing the crime of starvation, which amounts to a war crime requiring urgent accountability by the international justice system.
These racist statements come amid the worst conditions prisoners have endured in Israeli prisons in decades, and they indicate that the reality is getting darker as Zionist figures like Ben-Gvir control the lives of thousands of Palestinian prisoners.
The statement read: "It is time for a Palestinian and Arab media effort to expose the extent of the flagrant crimes suffered by prisoners inside Israeli prisons. The continued commission of such crimes, and their pronouncement on television without shedding light on them, will leave the door open to further aggression and arrogance, and the perpetration of further crimes against prisoners in Israeli prisons."
The statement noted that the Zionist entity, as the occupying power, is obligated, under international treaties and conventions and international humanitarian law, to provide all forms of care to prisoners and detainees, foremost among which is the provision of adequate and appropriate food and water, in a humane environment. What is happening inside prisons is the complete opposite of this.
With American and European support, the Zionist enemy's "army" has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 196,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing. It is also waging a comprehensive aggression against the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
