A statement issued by the Rehabilitation Sector of the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network today, Wednesday, confirmed that the war of extermination waged by the enemy in the Gaza Strip has left more than 32,000 new cases of disability, 70% of whom are children and women.

This raises the percentage of persons with disabilities in the Gaza Strip by 55%, or more than 90,000 persons with disabilities.

The Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations Network indicated that 107,000 elderly people, equivalent to 12% of the population of the Gaza Strip, have been left to starve and disease, without the most basic necessities of life.

It stated that persons with disabilities in the Gaza Strip are caught between systematic starvation, a lack of assistive devices, and a lack of healthcare. It stressed that every day that the Israeli war of extermination on the Gaza Strip continues, the humanitarian tragedy suffered by persons with disabilities and the elderly in the Gaza Strip worsens as a result of the direct and systematic targeting of the necessities of life and health, agricultural, and institutional capabilities.

It explained that what is happening in the Gaza Strip represents the most horrific form of famine in the modern era, man-made and imposed by the Israeli enemy on the residents of the Gaza Strip.

It considered that the policies followed in distributing food and flour to the population in the Gaza Strip, which contradict the principles of humanitarian response, deprive more than 200,000 residents, including children, women, men with disabilities, and the elderly, of their right to food, putting their lives at grave risk.
