The Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili, issued a humanitarian appeal on Saturday to international and Islamic organizations, urging them to ensure that aid reaching the Gaza Strip is protected from theft and profiteering.

In a statement on the social media platform “X,” Sheikh Al-Khalili wrote: “We call on all organizations working to deliver food and medicine to the besieged Gaza Strip to take all necessary precautions to prevent this aid from being hijacked by opportunists.”

He warned that such individuals "lie in wait to exploit the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, reselling aid at exorbitant prices far beyond the reach of those who need it most — enriching themselves at the expense of the suffering."

He added: “We urge the international community to take decisive action to protect the people of Gaza and ensure that aid reaches them intact. We also call for firm measures to stop those who unjustly intercept and profit from humanitarian assistance.”

The Grand Mufti concluded his appeal with a direct message to Muslims: “This is a duty upon your shoulders — you are accountable before God for the suffering and starvation of Gaza’s people. Do not turn away from this responsibility. We also extend this call to all people of conscience worldwide — this is your cause too, and you are worthy of rising to meet it.”
