In view of an international community committed to cold-blooded condemnation, denunciation, and appeals, accompanied by shameful Arab and Islamic abandonment, an unprecedented humanitarian tragedy unfolds in Gaza, as the Israeli enemy weaves a systematic policy of starvation, turning food into a weapon of annihilation.

After approximately 660 days of continuous bombardment and starvation, the people of the Gaza Strip find themselves trapped between "death traps," with hunger ravaging them from behind, and the Israeli killing machine reaping their souls from the front. Humanitarian aid has been transformed into death traps. In horrific scenes, enemy soldiers opened fire on hungry crowds seeking a morsel of food, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,000 martyrs and 6,000 wounded, confirming a systematic policy that makes no distinction between the hungry and the combatants.

Shocking numbers and a painful reality... Hunger ravages bodies

In the streets of Gaza, where daily life has become a form of resistance, people stand in long lines to get a meal of lentils or a piece of bread, while shells and bullets fall around them. In a brief statement issued on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced seven new deaths during the past 24 hours due to famine and malnutrition, including a child exhausted by hunger. This brings the total number of deaths from famine and malnutrition to 154, including 89 children, figures that reflect the severity of the catastrophe.

The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirms that "the worst-case scenario of famine is already unfolding in Gaza," stressing that Gaza "has reached the brink of famine, with starvation and malnutrition spreading widely across the war-torn territory, including among children." UNRWA also noted that more than 100 people have died from starvation during the past few weeks alone, stressing that the only way to stop this catastrophe is to "flood Gaza with massive amounts of aid." The United Nations, including UNRWA, has the necessary expertise and resources, emphasizing that "UNRWA alone has the equivalent of 6,000 trucks of food and medicine ready to enter Gaza."

Action Against Hunger Organization, for its part, confirmed that "the famine in the Gaza Strip is worsening, and nearly 20,000 children have been hospitalized due to severe malnutrition," noting that 300,000 children under the age of five and 150,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women are in dire need of nutritional supplements. In a related context, the World Food Programme indicated that "the figures confirm that Gaza is facing the threat of famine, and time is running out to launch a comprehensive humanitarian response." It explained that "one in three people in Gaza go days without food, and 75% face emergency levels of hunger," adding that approximately 25% of the Gaza Strip's population is suffering from famine-like conditions.

Engineering of Chaos and Starvation

The Israeli enemy is deliberately engineering chaos and starvation in the Gaza Strip. While only 109 aid trucks entered the Strip today, the Government Media Office in Gaza announced that most of them were looted and stolen due to the security chaos that the enemy is systematically and deliberately perpetuating, with the aim of thwarting aid distribution and depriving civilians of it. The office also revealed six airdrops that took place on Wednesday, four of which landed in areas under enemy control or in neighborhoods that citizens had previously been ordered to evacuate, rendering these airdrops pointless and dangerous to the lives of starving citizens.

The government office confirmed that the Gaza Strip requires 600 trucks of aid and fuel daily, which is the minimum actual needs for the most vital sectors. It condemned in the strongest terms the ongoing crime of chaos and starvation, and the deprivation of 2.4 million people, including 1.1 million children, of baby formula and aid.

At the same time, one million women and girls in the Gaza Strip face the threat of famine, violence, and mass abuse. They face impossible choices between starvation and the risk of being killed while searching for food, according to UN warnings, which confirm that the spread of hunger, malnutrition, and disease contribute to the rise in hunger-related deaths.

From the death corridors of hospitals, the most horrific images of the tragedy are evident in the Strip's hospitals, which have reached their worst condition. Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza, confirms that the hospital's bed capacity has exceeded 250%, and that deaths due to systematic starvation and malnutrition in the Strip have reached unprecedented numbers. Abu Salmiya revealed that approximately 154 martyrs, including 89 children, have died due to hunger and malnutrition resulting from the blockade and the denial of food and medicine. He emphasized that the death toll is increasing every hour as the famine intensifies and food becomes scarce.

Children are the most affected group, with more than 17,000 children suffering from severe malnutrition. The Ministry of Health lacks the means to keep premature infants alive due to the lack of milk and food supplies, especially since children's hospitals are overcrowded with thousands of patients due to unprecedented levels of hunger. Abu Salmiya points out that children cannot withstand famine for long and cannot tolerate prolonged fasting, which puts them at risk. They are the most vulnerable group and are susceptible to disease.

A Witness from the Crime

Dr. Mark Brawner, an American emergency physician who recently volunteered in the Gaza Strip, gives a harrowing account of the reality there. According to HuffPost, the doctor indicated that Palestinian children have already passed the "point of no return," warning that August and September could see massive deaths from starvation.

Brawner, who worked at Nasser Medical Center in Khan Younis, described the conditions on the ground as horrific. "Explosions occurred almost every ten minutes near the hospital. I saw the emaciated bodies of children who could no longer absorb food or water due to deteriorating intestinal linings, making even refeeding life-threatening," he said. "These children were dying in front of us."

He pointed out that acute malnutrition rates among Gaza's children have exceeded 15%, with at least 10% of children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.

He said, "Children who survive will likely face permanent neurological disabilities due to a deficiency in essential vitamins like thiamine, which will affect their cognitive abilities for life." He spoke of cases of infants and children who died from hunger-related illnesses, such as "toxic enteritis," resulting from the spontaneous decomposition of the intestines due to malnutrition.

As for adults, Brawner explained that they are in a state of "extreme emaciation." Surgery has been performed on patients whose ribs are clearly visible, and "there was difficulty inserting chest tubes between the ribs because the body was almost bony."

He added, "Even if you are not injured, the environment itself is enough to destroy you." Simple wounds fail to heal due to a lack of protein and water, leading to recurring infections that go untreated. He recounted his observations of doctors and nurses who would faint while working or during surgery due to malnutrition and the lack of regular meals.

He emphasized the enormous pressure on medical staff in Gaza, who work long hours amidst a shortage of medicines and supplies, while constantly being exposed to airstrikes and shelling. He said, "They are experiencing a simultaneous psychological and physical collapse, with medical personnel losing the ability to continue due to exhaustion and shock."

He said that medical staff in Gaza worked 16 to 18 hours a day, then walked back to their tents before dawn, only to return again the next day. He emphasized, "I didn't see armed men or hateful slogans. I saw exhausted young men with empty pockets and torn shoes on their feet."

The doctor recounted tragic scenes where patients suffered from advanced malnutrition, to the point where their intestines began to digest themselves due to the severe lack of food, leading to acute organ failure and incurable complications. One doctor describes this condition as "a different kind of hunger, where the body becomes its own enemy."

He also points to the Biden administration's disregard for the situation, and Trump's history of policies that have uncritically supported the Israeli occupation, which have exacerbated the catastrophe in Gaza. "Doctors and observers consider American silence to be clear complicity that allows the occupation to practice genocide without accountability."

He confirms the occurrence of cases of Palestinian children being shot, even in places where they gather at aid distribution points, where children find no safe haven, and where killings occur directly in front of everyone's eyes. Testimonies are told of the deliberate targeting of children as they wait for food and medical aid.

Sniper Bullets Harvest the Lives of the Starving

In practices that confirm that starvation is merely another facet of a merciless, all-out killing machine, a more horrific scene has emerged with the continued Israeli bombardment and direct targeting of civilians, including those waiting for humanitarian aid amid the widespread starvation of the population. In the vicinity of Netzarim area in the central Gaza Strip, two martyrs were killed by enemy bullets, while numerous wounded arrived at Al-Awda Hospital, as a result of a new targeting of civilians gathered waiting for an aid truck occurred. At Nabulsi Junction, southwest of Gaza City, Al-Quds Hospital reported receiving eight wounded civilians who were shot by Israeli forces while waiting for aid.

The Israeli bombing continued Wednesday night, targeting the areas of Nuseirat, Shuja'iyya, Deir al-Balah, Jabalia, Khan Yunis, and several neighborhoods in Gaza City. The airstrikes focused on populated areas, with the minaret of Abu Salim Mosque directly targeted twice by a suicide drone in Deir al-Balah. Israeli artillery targeted Salah al-Din Street, Mufti Land, and the vicinity of the electricity company north of Nuseirat. Airstrikes also targeted Asdaa Prison in Al-Mawasi, and repeated shelling occurred around Dabit inside Gaza City.

In the south, thousands of residents gathered near Kousfim area east of Khan Yunis hoping to receive aid. A child was shot in the head in the Bir 19 area as a result of direct Israeli army fire.

The Israeli enemy also detonated a booby-trapped robot east of Jabalia. His aircraft launched new airstrikes this morning on Deir al-Balah, while indicators continue to point to a complete collapse of the humanitarian system, with increasing numbers of wounded and displaced people, and food and water insecurity, especially after the United Nations officially declared a famine in Gaza.

In a related context, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, appealed for the entry of food and medicine into the Gaza Strip to prevent deaths resulting from famine due to the Israeli blockade. He added in a post on X platform that famine, malnutrition, and disease in Gaza have caused an increase in hunger-related deaths. He emphasized that this necessitates the delivery of food and medical aid on a large scale to prevent the situation from worsening.

Ghebreyesus referred to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report, released Thursday, which warned that "Gaza is witnessing the worst-case scenario of famine." He continued, "Famine, malnutrition, and disease are leading to an increase in hunger-related deaths." He renewed his call for a ceasefire in Gaza, adding, "Peace is the best medicine!"

In conclusion, from the ever-increasing numbers, exposing all attempts to deny the reality of the famine the people of Gaza are enduring, it is worth noting that, since the beginning of the war on Gaza in October 2023, 60,138 Palestinians have been killed and 146,269 others have been injured as a result of the Israeli aggression. Statistics from the Ministry of Health in Gaza have also recorded 8,970 martyrs and 34,228 wounded since the enemy violated the ceasefire agreement in mid-March 2025.

In this context, the Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that "all the pathetic attempts to deny the reality of famine are exposed by the numbers of people flocking to emergency rooms and the number of deaths that we have always warned of." In its condemnation of the state of complacency regarding the crimes of genocide and starvation that the people of Gaza are enduring, unprecedented in the history of wars.
