The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the Zionist assault on the Gaza-bound "Sumud Flotilla," describing it as a blatant violation of international law and humanitarian principles.
In its statement, the Ministry emphasized that the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and the First Additional Protocol of 1977 explicitly require Israeli occupation authorities to allow humanitarian aid to pass freely and prohibit any interference with its delivery to civilians. These treaties also criminalize attacks on aid convoys and their personnel.
The statement highlighted that for over two years, the Israeli regime has maintained a harsh and unjust blockade on the Palestinian people in Gaza, systematically aiming to starve the population, crush their resolve, and force displacement—actions that flagrantly violate international laws and conventions.
Praising the courage of the "Sumud Flotilla" participants, the Ministry said their mission exemplifies humanitarian solidarity by defying the criminal blockade imposed on more than two million civilians in Gaza, proving that the global conscience remains vigilant.
The Ministry further stressed that the flotilla’s goal is to expose the dire suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, especially after the international community failed to end the blockade or deliver sufficient humanitarian aid to a population on the brink of famine and collapse.
Reiterating its call for urgent international action, the Ministry urged the global community to halt the genocide and siege in Gaza and hold the Israeli regime accountable for its ongoing crimes that threaten international peace and security. Yemen reaffirmed its steadfast support for the Palestinian people in Gaza, vowing to stand with them by all means until the aggression ends and the blockade is lifted.
