The second anniversary of Al-Aqsa Flood, carried out by the Palestinian resistance on October 7, 2023, marks a time when the flames of the brutal Israeli war on the Gaza Strip are still raging, after two years of bloodshed, destruction, and unprecedented human suffering in modern history. On that day, Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, along with other factions that joined the operation, carried out a large-scale and surprise attack inside the occupied territories, described as the largest in decades. The resistance penetrated Israeli fortifications and reached the heart of the settlements adjacent to the Gaza Strip. That day marked a major turning point in the confrontation with the Israeli enemy and brought the Palestinian issue back to the forefront of global attention after years of decline, marginalization, and attempts at liquidation.
Two Years of War and a Humanitarian Disaster
The Israeli aggression was unprecedented in its violence and brutality. Over the course of two years of aggression, more than 70,000 Palestinians were killed, the majority of them women and children, while more than 80% of the civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip was destroyed, according to the latest reports from the Government Media Office in Gaza. Hospitals, schools, mosques, and homes were reduced to rubble, while nearly two million Palestinians live in catastrophic humanitarian conditions, without food, medicine, or shelter, amidst a stifling blockade and near-total destruction.
Even humanitarian aid distribution centers have been transformed—by Israeli and American actions—into "death traps," as international activists have described them. They were used as a trap by the enemy army, which repeatedly and brutally targeted those seeking humanitarian aid there on a daily basis.
"Israel" is in an existential dilemma
While it's true that the people of Gaza are experiencing a major catastrophe as a result of the barbaric aggression, the disastrous consequences for the entity are not insignificant either. Two years after the outbreak of the war, Israel finds itself mired in a profound political, security, and economic crisis, expressed by opposition voices while concealed by government statements, ignoring them in order to advance its plans to continue the war, regardless of the slim and impossible prospects for achieving its goals.
Unofficial Israeli reports almost unanimously confirm the Israeli government's failure to achieve its declared goals of eliminating Hamas or forcibly recovering prisoners. Meanwhile, the rift within the "military" and political establishment widens to the point that the Israeli "Chief of Staff" has repeatedly expressed his opposition to the continuation of the war, even though he does not contravene the political decision and is working to implement it.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is experiencing an unprecedented situation, amid protests demanding his resignation and trial. He has also made statements confirming that he fears a ceasefire because it would be considered a victory for the Palestinian resistance. The October 7th strike remides the entity's leaders, led by the criminal Netanyahu, that the entity is doomed to collapse, and that the causes of its demise begin in Gaza, no matter how destructive it is, how burdened with bleeding wounds, and how the number of martyrs rises every day.
Economically, "Israel" has incurred enormous losses with a decline in its gross domestic product, the collapse of the tourism sector, the flight of investments, and the rising cost of the war, which has exceeded hundreds of billions of shekels.
Global Public Anger and Political Isolation
On the international scene, the circle of anger against the Israeli occupation is growing. Millions have demonstrated in capitals around the world demanding an end to the war, and the positions of many Western countries have gradually shifted under pressure from public opinion.
International human rights
organizations are now speaking of "war crimes" and "genocide" against the people of Gaza, while calls are mounting for Israeli leaders to be held accountable before the International Criminal Court.
In the Arab and Islamic world, the Palestinian cause has returned to the center of collective consciousness, and Gaza has become a symbol of unity, dignity, and steadfastness. However, at the official level, it remains stagnant due to the failure of leaders and the conspiracy of some.
The resistance persists, and the message continues
Despite the siege and destruction, the Palestinian resistance remains steadfast on the ground, continuing to launch rockets and carry out operations against the occupation forces. The factions affirm that the Battle of the Flood of Al-Aqsa was a "message of freedom and dignity," and that it will continue until complete liberation is achieved.
Gaza has become a global symbol of resistance, representing a humanitarian and political epic that has restored the dignity of the Palestinian people and their right to exist.
US President Donald Trump recently said in a recent interview that "Israel" is suffering from international isolation and that he is working to address the issue. This statement belies the significant impact that Al-Aqsa Intifada has had on the entity over the past two years. Palestine, with its media, is a powerful presence on the international stage, while the entity's Foreign Ministry issues directives to its personnel abroad, including in several countries, including Western ones, to conceal their identities to avoid criticism that could amount to armed attack. This is in addition to the legal proceedings against members of the enemy's army in several countries.
The data available to us two years after Al-Aqsa Flood confirms that what happened was not merely a military battle, but a political and strategic earthquake that changed the equations in the region and returned the conflict to its true roots: a people clinging to their land, resisting for freedom in the face of a brutal and merciless occupation.
Despite the wounds and destruction, Palestine today is once again at the heart of the world, and Gaza continues to pulsate with life and resilience, testament to the invincibility of the will of the people, and that the occupation—no matter how long it lasts—is bound to end.
