The return journey of thousands of displaced Palestinians to their homes in Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip continues, despite widespread destruction and the absence of essential living conditions.

Field footage shows Palestinian police and security forces deployed along Salah al-Din Street to help organize the return movement. Meanwhile, the Civil Defense announced that more than half a million Palestinians have returned to their areas since the ceasefire agreement took effect.

Along Rashid and Salah al-Din streets, returning families were seen walking on foot, carrying their children and scant belongings—a poignant scene reflecting their ongoing hardship.

Many of these returnees found no homes to go back to, as Israeli bombings have leveled them to the ground. Some traveled exhausting distances of over 15 kilometers from Khan Yunis to Gaza City, enduring the scorching sun.

Within the city, returnees were met with shock upon seeing the rubble of their homes and buildings, while Gaza Municipality crews worked to clear roads and remove debris to facilitate residents' access to their neighborhoods.

According to the Government Media Office, over 90% of the civilian infrastructure has been destroyed, with approximately 300,000 housing units damaged. Amjad al-Shawa, head of the Palestinian NGO Network, confirmed that around 1.5 million Palestinians have been completely displaced from their homes.

Amid this tragic situation, urgent calls are mounting for immediate delivery of medical and humanitarian supplies. The Ministry of Health emphasized that thousands of patients and injured require specialized care in equipped facilities, warning that the crisis will worsen if diagnostic and specialized services remain suspended.

Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) stated that more than 170,000 injured in Gaza urgently need treatment, while residents await humanitarian aid convoys after a prolonged siege.

Simultaneously, Palestinian police and security forces have spread throughout areas evacuated by the Israeli army to restore order and protect property.

These developments coincide with the implementation of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and the Israeli occupation entity, based on a plan proposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump. The plan calls for a halt to hostilities, a gradual withdrawal of occupation forces, and a prisoner exchange process.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli aggression, backed by the U.S., has resulted in more than 67,000 martyrs and 170,000 injuries in the Gaza Strip.
