From the very moment the Palestinian resistance delegation took its seat at the negotiating table in Sharm El-Sheikh, up to the announcement of the “ceasefire agreement” in its final wording, signs of Zionist confusion began to appear clearly across the media landscape. That confusion was reinforced by the enemy leaders’ accusations on Zionist outlets of great failure and collapse after the agreement entered into effect. Scenes of pride, joy and dignity that emerged in Gaza shocked the enemies and reiterated that the Zionist enemy had failed and been unable to achieve the declared objectives of its genocidal war on Gaza — foremost among them the recovery of its captives by military force — forcing it to yield to the main demands of the Palestinian resistance and to enter into indirect negotiations over halting the savage aggression on Gaza and conducting a prisoner-exchange deal.
Despite the scale of Zionist criminality, the massive destruction, the large numbers of martyrs and wounded, and despite the suffocating siege and severe suffering, the Palestinian people remained steadfast in Gaza; their will was not broken. They proved themselves a preeminent resistant people, a great and unique nation in this world, able to endure unprecedented pressures. They impressed with the strength of their will and determination, offering an unprecedented model of firm resolve, steadfast belief and patience, which has led to this significant achievement for the resistance in its various components and for the struggling Palestinian people.
Evidence of Zionist Failure in Gaza
There are numerous facts and signs of the Palestinian resistance’s victory. After the ceasefire came into force, Hamas security apparatuses spread to restore order in Gaza, municipalities resumed their work, and popular expressions of Palestinian solidarity with the resistance became visible. Media statements widely circulated expressed joy despite the bitterness of pain.
Within the Zionist entity, the effects of shock and internal disarray became apparent on Zionist media, accompanied by political tug-of-war and blame-shifting that have been bolstered by threats of resignations. In addition, harsh Zionist measures have been imposed to prevent celebrations in the West Bank and Jerusalem upon the reception of Palestinian prisoners released under the exchange deal.
Other indicators also confirm the enemy’s failure: the resistance’s success in confronting the Zionist enemy and draining its army; the inscription of an unprecedented heroic epic; the unparalleled coordination among Palestinian resistance factions at the military level inside Gaza and at the political level outside Gaza. Added to this is the legendary steadfastness of the Palestinian people in Gaza and their endurance of what no one else could withstand — pressures and suffering under a genocidal war, starvation and siege. The degree of solidarity and humanitarian mutual support among Gaza’s people reached an advanced level. There was also success in the media battle by restoring the credibility of the Palestinian resistance and refuting the enemy’s claims and lies, after hostile media sought both to tarnish the resistance’s image and to highlight the Zionist entity’s brutal massacres and crimes.
Among the catastrophic effects of Palestinian steadfastness on the Zionist enemy has been the fracturing of its internal front: wide rifts surfaced within its political and military leaderships, with mutual accusations about responsibility for the security and military failures, growing sharp divisions, and escalating criticism of the enemy’s “government” for its clear weakness in confronting the resistance despite absolute material and military support from major world powers led by the United States, Britain, Germany, France and Italy. Added to this is paralysis in the Zionist economy and commercial movement due to the prolonged war on one hand and the fall of resistance rockets deep into the entity on the other, resulting in severe economic damage, disruption of daily life and huge losses to infrastructure.
Operation Al-Aqsa Flood is an important historical station in the resistance’s journey. However high the cost, surrender, and yielding the rights, land and holy sites in Palestine should not be accepted. If, hypothetically, the victor in war is the one with the upper hand and the defeated the one with the lower hand, the result of the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood to date shows that the resistance in Gaza is the victor and that the Zionist enemy has suffered failure and defeat.
Accordingly, the one who decides Gaza’s future is the victor — a fact that became manifest in the scene the world witnessed in Gaza from the first moments the ceasefire agreement took effect.
Al-Aqsa Flood and the Revival of Popular Resistance
Regarding the strategic achievements of Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood,” the operation and its ensuing regional and international repercussions have restored the centrality of the Palestinian cause, placing it at the forefront of the global scene after the enemy sought to relegate it to the margins. The operation also helped establish a new mode of confrontation that relies on popular resistance rather than regular armies.
The Palestinian cause may be among the most wronged and complex in modern history. The facts imposed by colonial powers in the region and worldwide after the two world wars — exporting their internal crises and imposing hegemony, and the emergence of a U.S.-led colonial order after World War II — enabled the Zionist project to succeed as a settler-colonialist occupation. Confronting that project in Palestine and the region therefore became a confrontation with colonial powers themselves. Official Arab confrontation with the project and Western support for it took a crippling direction, beginning with the setback of 1948 when “Israel” was declared, through the defeat of 1967, to the Arab recognition of Zionist Jews’ right to exist on the Palestinian lands of 1948, then to the 1973 war which ended with the Camp David accords and Egypt’s restriction, and the 1982 war in Lebanon which targeted the Palestinian resistance abroad. Yet the blessed Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on 7 October 2023 was able to establish a new era of armed confrontation against the Zionist entity, based on peoples relying on their own capabilities away from regimes that had thrown themselves into the arms of the Zionist project.
It should be noted that the gravest Arab rupture occurred after the Second Gulf War in 1991, which established an official Arab order subject to American hegemony — a rupture entrenched by the collapse of the Soviet Union that same year — and steered official Arab policy toward abandoning the Palestinian cause. This was institutionalized at the 1991 Madrid Conference and then in the Oslo process of 1993. The United States and the Israeli entity sought to complete and remove remaining obstacles by force through the 2003 invasion of Iraq and the 2006 Lebanon war, followed by the transformative and destructive waves of the Arab Spring that weakened or destroyed the remaining states resisting normalization with the Zionist entity and abandoning the Palestinian cause.
Despite this broader official Arab defeatism, the resistance project grew in Lebanon from 1982, spread to Palestine, and later expanded to Iraq and Yemen. Thus the resistance emerged as the sole military force leading the struggle against the Zionist project and U.S. hegemony in the region, in contrast to Arab armies that were incapable or unprepared to fight Israel. Resistance forces began to establish new military equations against the Zionist entity — a resistance born outside the official Arab system, ushering in a new phase in which influence shifted from official Arab regimes and their armies to popular forces taking on the burden of defending the Palestinian cause and confronting Israel and American dominance in the region.
From this perspective, Operation Al-Aqsa Flood reinforced the axis of resistance, which inflicted deep wounds on the Zionist enemy: in Lebanon the Islamic Resistance fought fierce battles that caused the enemy major losses; the Islamic Resistance in Iraq carried out military operations; the Islamic Republic of Iran executed retaliatory operations; and the Yemeni armed forces achieved successes by imposing a maritime interdiction on Israeli navigation and striking deep into the Zionist entity with more than a thousand rockets and drones.
All these combined efforts, together with the heroic operations of the Palestinian resistance, inflicted heavy human and material losses on the Zionist enemy, ultimately forcing it to yield to the resistance’s terms and accept a ceasefire agreement it had refused outright at the start of the confrontation.
Today we face a scene unlike the one the Zionist enemy sought to portray: Gaza remained steadfast and the Palestinian people clung to their land. Beyond Palestine, the axis of jihad and resistance has gained broad experience in multiple fields, acquired strong immunity, uncovered the Zionist enemy’s strengths and weaknesses, and is now preparing for the next round of confrontation in a manner that will be more impactful and punishing to the enemy.
