For decades, US has promoted what it calls deterrence strategies, aiming to achieve this deterrence before engaging in direct military action. Simultaneously, as part of its policy of intimidation and exaggeration, it has sometimes revealed weapons with supposedly exceptional and extraordinary capabilities, and at other times announced the allocation of enormous budgets to the military.
Whether those captivated by US's false pomp or not, the recent displays and tests of force over the past two years, particularly in the confrontation with Yemen, have exposed the true nature of this intimidation strategy and proven that propaganda theories and strategies alone are insufficient.
Recently, Washington acknowledged this by deploying RC-135S Cobra Ball reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft in the Arabian Gulf region. According to the American definition, these are advanced aircraft equipped with infrared sensors and high-precision electro-optical devices, capable of detecting and tracking ballistic missiles and analyzing their data at the moment of launch. They are typically used in sensitive missions related to early warning and monitoring missile tests.
The American move, unwittingly, implicitly acknowledged that its previous approach to confront Yemeni forces had failed and was incapable of achieving deterrence—the very approach it had relied upon to issue threats, warnings, and intimidation to any nation aspiring to assert itself. Furthermore, this move reflects growing concerns about Yemeni missile capabilities, particularly after their demonstration during support operations for Gaza, where they proved capable of scoring points and eliciting acknowledgments from within the United States itself, demonstrating that the sheer size of the "dollar" value of weapons does not guarantee victory in a conflict.
The Battle for Renewed Innovation
With this development in the context of the escalation against Yemen, US has demonstrated the deepening of its chronic naiveté. It imagines that this move—accompanied by a remarkable media campaign by those lost in the American orbit—can intimidate the Yemenis and force them to surrender. However, Yemen, guided by the verse "Prepare against them with whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war" (Quran 8:60), and aware of the need to confront the arrogance of its enemies, has been preparing for modern warfare since 2015. It has translated this conviction into action with advanced missiles and drones that American technology—with its long history—has failed to detect or intercept, whether striking Israeli ships and their collaborators, the invading American fleets, or vital sites deep within the Zionist entity.
The Leader has repeatedly affirmed that the development of weapons capable of overcoming complexities is ongoing. In mid-October, the Leader of the Revolution affirmed that the path of confrontation with the enemies "turned challenges into opportunities, and was a path based on innovation." He said: Part of the battle with the enemies is the battle of continuous innovation to surpass their existing technologies and capabilities.
Accordingly, Yemen's possession of deterrent capabilities means that Washington's deployment of any of its outdated weapons will not change anything. In fact, it may further expose the extent of its capabilities. Despite possessing highly advanced weaponry, these weapons proved a heavy burden in the conflict with Yemen due to their high cost and their failure to intercept Yemeni arms. This indicates that US is still clinging to the legacy of its World War II arsenal, when it terrorized the world by annihilating entire societies with its weapons of mass destruction. However, it has failed to grasp that modern warfare now demands sophisticated weapons that rely not on intimidation but on their ability to limit the enemy's capabilities and restrict their options. This is precisely what Yemeni military manufacturing has excelled at, achieving remarkable success—acknowledged by the entire world—in halting the American MQ-9 Reaper drone's intrusion into Yemeni airspace and the aircraft carriers' dominance over Arab waters and the Red Sea.
Yemen's military industry has been remarkably successful, a fact acknowledged by the entire world, in preventing the American MQ-9 Reaper from violating Yemeni airspace and the aircraft carriers from violating Arab waters and dominating the Red Sea.
Also mentioned in this context are the SM-2 and SM-6 missiles, considered among the best defensive weapons against modern threats. However, according to The Strategist, a publication of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, their effectiveness remains limited in achieving strategic objectives. The Strategist stated that deploying these interceptor missiles against a swarm of inexpensive, mass-produced Yemeni military drones is extremely costly, despite the missiles' effectiveness. The website added, "Reports indicate that the US Navy has already launched over 100 of these missiles in the Red Sea, and Pentagon budget requests to replenish these stockpiles reveal financial constraints."
A Deeper Fall into Inferiority
American military capabilities confirm that Washington has no need to resort to terrorism by deploying weapons here and there, or by making a lot of noise about technologies capable of penetrating the earth's layers. Yemen, too, has proven that it possesses the minds capable of overcoming any challenges of this kind, and even turning them into a source of ridicule, as happened with the MQ-9 drones, aircraft carriers, and American defense systems deployed along the route to the occupied territories, not to mention the multi-layered systems within the occupation itself.
US, from its very inception, has never fought with ethics, but rather deliberately targets population centers and civilian infrastructure. This means that its use of other highly destructive weapons will only deepen its descent into inferiority.
The constant downing of aircraft is further evidence
What the rogue state of US needs today is not futile attempts to terrorize Yemenis, but rather a critical examination of its own current state. Indicators are mounting that strongly suggest it is experiencing a decline on multiple fronts, both domestic and international, with the military aspect remaining the greatest concern. This is especially true given that confessions from former and current US military leaders reveal the deterioration of many Pentagon weapons, in addition to a decline in production volume. This is happening despite the large budgets often allocated to attempts to innovate and develop new types of weapons, attempts in which it has failed miserably, as evidenced by its inability—to this day—to manufacture a hypersonic missile.
It is therefore unsurprising that the US Pentagon is experiencing profound anxiety about its capabilities, given the growing evidence of the decline in the characteristics and features of its military power.
By defying all legal and moral norms, US—through its unwavering support for the Zionist enemy in its genocidal war on Gaza—attempted to send a message to powers like China and Russia that it still holds the reins of global power and controls its course. This was an attempt to reverse the global trend toward a multipolar world order in which it no longer holds sole dominance, especially after it became clear that its erratic behavior in dealing with international issues is a matter that threatens global peace and portends conflicts that will leave nothing untouched. What Washington sought through this defiance and its unrestrained support for the Zionist entity has yielded a shameful outcome that will have no impact on the calculations of China and Russia. The depletion of its missile stockpile was not the only concern for the Department of Defense; its declining deterrent and decisive capabilities were also waning.
Recently, media outlets reported two aircraft crashes involving the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier while it was sailing in the South China Sea. The US Pacific Fleet announced that a fighter jet and a helicopter from the USS Nimitz crashed into the South China Sea 30 minutes apart. The crews of both aircraft were rescued. This incident is a further indication of the deteriorating state of US military equipment. Last May, Yemeni attacks in the Red Sea caused confusion on the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, which lost its bearings, resulting in the crashes of two F/A-18 fighter jets in two separate incidents within a week. Each aircraft is valued at $60 million. Such embarrassing incidents for US's military standing reinforce the conviction that the US needs to abandon its arrogant military role and focus on its capabilities, which now amount to little more than a reputation to those whose power has waned.
Chaos and Incapacity in the Face of the Continued Blockade
The American insistence on playing the role of proxy fighter on behalf of the occupying entity comes amidst the ongoing repercussions of Yemeni actions against the Zionist enemy, most notably the naval blockade. This blockade has created a state of chaos and incapacity within the entity's financial and political circles, hindering efforts to resolve the current situation. Some of its leaders have even openly expressed fears that the blockade will become an unavoidable reality. During a session held last week by the Finance Committee of the Israeli Knesset to discuss the situation of the closed Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) port and proposed solutions for its reopening, the mayor of Eilat stated: “When I hear about the direction of the discussion, it seems as though we are going to perpetuate the image of the port's closure by the Houthis… and we must not perpetuate this situation. This is illogical… The port currently owes more than 10 million shekels, and as mayor, I don't know how to deal with a deficit of this amount.”
US is concerned with complying with the requirements of peace if it wants to create this environment to preserve its interests and what remains of its reputation. As for Yemen, its principles are constants that it cannot compromise on, and these constants drive it to be able to protect them without the slightest regard for who stands in confrontation, for everyone is just “straw” in the face of faith and will.
