Sana’a — Yemen’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Abdulwahid Abu Ras, met on Sunday with Noor Khudam Al-Jamea, Deputy Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission in Yemen, to discuss avenues for expanding and enhancing cooperation between Yemen and the organization.
During the meeting, Abu Ras commended the ICRC’s pivotal role in Yemen, highlighting the country’s long-standing relationship with the organization and its unwavering commitment to humanitarian principles.
He emphasized Yemen’s readiness to provide full support and facilitation to the ICRC and its staff, while calling for intensified efforts in light of the escalating humanitarian needs caused by the ongoing conflict and the 11-year blockade imposed on the country.
Al-Jamea provided an overview of the ICRC’s ongoing initiatives in Yemen, including health care, water provision, food assistance, livelihood support, and protection programs. He affirmed the organization’s commitment to continue delivering all possible forms of aid to mitigate the humanitarian crisis affecting the Yemeni population.
