Mahra Governor Al-Qutbi Al-Farji affirmed that November 30 — Yemen’s Independence Day — remains a pivotal milestone in the nation’s history, from which generations draw lessons of resilience and sacrifice to confront new occupiers.
Speaking to Saba News Agency, Al-Farji said that the 58th anniversary of the historic day marks a proud chapter of Yemen’s armed struggle, a moment engraved in the nation’s collective memory as proof of Yemeni bravery in defeating British colonialism and inflicting painful lessons upon it.
He stated that the people’s commemoration of this occasion reflects their readiness to thwart all renewed schemes of occupation, reaffirming that Yemen has always been — and will remain — a graveyard for invaders.
The governor urged local collaborators in occupied regions to learn from the lessons of November 30, when Yemenis ended British colonial ambitions — a scene he said will soon repeat with today’s foreign occupiers.
Al-Farji stressed that celebrating this national event expresses pride, dignity, and a message to the world that attempts to dominate Yemen are over.
He noted that the Yemeni people — who achieved the victories of the September 26, October 14, and September 21 revolutions — are today more aware, united, and determined to defend their land and sovereignty.
He added that Yemen, under the leadership of Sayyid Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, is stronger than ever, and that the continued aggression by Saudi and Emirati forces in the south will inevitably come to an end.
The governor highlighted the deep significance of this anniversary in the hearts of Yemenis across the country, symbolizing resilience and a reminder of the sacrifices made to restore dignity and independence.
He called for reviving the same spirit of resistance to confront today’s occupiers and expel them from southern Yemen, in honor of the sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs and early revolutionaries.
Al-Farji emphasized that the difficult phase Yemen is experiencing requires widespread mobilization to confront foreign forces and their proxies, praising the steadfastness of people in the occupied provinces who reject oppressive practices. He urged unity and collective resolve to expel all occupying forces from Yemeni territory.
