The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has reported that 508 children in the Gaza Strip are suffering from severe malnutrition, warning that the humanitarian crisis is worsening due to funding shortages and limited aid.

The agency’s Director of External Relations and Media stated in a press briefing that “the flow of aid does not meet the level of need in Gaza,” highlighting a significant financial shortfall that has forced UNRWA to scale back essential services. She called on the international community to provide immediate financial support to ensure continued assistance.

She also noted that camps in the northern West Bank have become largely empty due to forced relocations, further complicating the delivery of humanitarian aid.

UNRWA emphasized that the ongoing lack of funding and aid threatens the lives of children and Palestinian refugees, stressing the urgent need for international intervention to prevent a broader humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation—supported by the U.S. and Europe—has continued a genocidal campaign in Gaza, including killings, starvation, destruction, displacement, and detention, ignoring international calls and the International Court of Justice orders to halt these crimes.

This campaign has resulted in over 241,000 Palestinians killed or injured, mostly women and children, more than 11,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, widespread famine claiming many lives (mostly children), and massive destruction that has erased most of Gaza’s cities and regions from the map.
