The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement condemned the decision by the Ramallah-based authority to halt the payment of allowances to the families of prisoners, martyrs, and wounded Palestinians, describing the move as nationally unacceptable and a submission to American and Zionist pressure, as well as an abandonment of issues that carry an authentic national and resistance dimension.

In a statement issued on Monday, the movement said that the entitlements of prisoners, martyrs, and the wounded constitute a legal and national right stemming from their struggle and national status. It stressed that restricting the disbursement of these allowances solely to the criterion of “social need” ignores the political and legal dimensions that successive Palestinian regulations have guaranteed for this segment of fighters.

The statement emphasized that “this rejected step represents a punitive measure targeting important segments of our people who have given their most precious sacrifices on the path of liberation and return.” It added that the move constitutes a major betrayal of these families and a denial of their inherent rights, particularly in light of the ongoing open Zionist war, the suffocating siege endured by the Palestinian people, and the severe suffering faced by steadfast Palestinian prisoners.

The movement called on the authority’s institutions to immediately reverse all measures that undermine the rights of prisoners, martyrs, and the wounded, and to return to implementing the previous systems that regulated the rights of these struggling groups. It affirmed that replacing those systems with a social-research-based framework is a nationally rejected step that excludes thousands of families who sacrificed for the homeland.

The statement further underscored the need for national consensus and professional standards based on Palestinian national interests, free from Zionist enemy dictates and international conditions, warning against actions that undermine the essence of the Palestinian cause and the rights of broad segments of the Palestinian people.
