The International Commission to Support Palestinian People’s Rights (Hashd) stated that the Zionist enemy is deliberately obstructing the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip as a systematic policy, using relief assistance as a “weapon of war” aimed at turning Gaza into a disaster-stricken area unfit for life.
Salah Abdel Ati, head of the international commission, said on Saturday that the obstruction imposed by the Zionist enemy on humanitarian aid entering Gaza is not a security measure, but rather a calculated policy designed to deepen the humanitarian catastrophe. Speaking to the Palestinian Shehab News Agency, Abdel Ati explained that allowing less than one-third of Gaza’s daily needs in aid trucks to enter the Strip, while preventing the entry of fuel, equipment, and tents, in addition to paralyzing the work of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), clearly aims to perpetuate health and environmental collapse and forcibly push the population toward migration under the pressure of hunger and the absence of any prospects.
He noted that the enemy’s approach, which combines political commitments with on-the-ground obstruction, reflects the absence of binding international enforcement mechanisms, enabling the continuation of these crimes under a false political cover.
Abdel Ati added that the targeting of UNRWA in particular is intended to undermine the international witness to the refugee issue and the right of return.
He strongly criticized the silence of the United Nations Security Council and the double standards of the international community, stating that the U.S. veto and political paralysis have turned international resolutions into texts devoid of enforcement tools. As a result, he said, UN expressions of concern have become suitable only for archiving, incapable of saving a child or allowing a single aid truck to enter.
The head of the international commission stressed that what is taking place in Gaza constitutes a grave violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention and amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity under the Rome Statute.
He warned that unless the international stance is transformed into real pressure and tangible sanctions, the Zionist enemy will continue its policy of starvation, while international law remains “on an open holiday,” absent from the defense of Gaza.
Since 7 October 2023, the Zionist enemy, with U.S. and European support, has continued to carry out genocide in the Gaza Strip, including killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and arrests, while disregarding international appeals and orders issued by the International Court of Justice to halt these crimes.
This genocide has resulted in more than 241,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to more than 11,000 missing persons, hundreds of thousands of displaced people, and a famine that has claimed many lives, most of them children. It has also caused massive destruction that has erased most of Gaza’s cities and areas from the map.
