Mohammed Yassin, Director of the Palestinian Journalists Forum, stated on Wednesday that the Israeli entity specifically targets Palestinian journalists because they expose its crimes, debunk its false narratives, and challenge its monopoly over images and news.

Speaking to the Palestinian Shehab News Agency on the occasion of Palestinian Journalists’ Loyalty Day, observed annually on 31 December, Yassin emphasized that Palestinian journalists are aligned with humanity, which makes them direct targets for sniping and assassination.

He renewed the call for genuine international protection for journalists in conflict zones and for holding the Israeli entity accountable for its crimes against media workers, warning against impunity.

Yassin described martyred journalists as exemplary both professionally and humanely, noting that they conveyed the suffering of their people to the world without distortion or concealment, sacrificing their lives to deliver the truth. He affirmed that the blood of these martyrs has not been shed in vain but serves as living testimony to the justice of the Palestinian cause.

Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on 7 October 2023, 257 Palestinian journalists in Gaza have been martyred, including 56 in 2025 alone, reflecting a direct targeting of anyone carrying the word and the image.

Since 7 October 2023, the Zionist entity—with U.S. and European support—has continued committing acts of genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and arrests, ignoring international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt these crimes.

This genocide has resulted in over 241,000 Palestinians killed or injured, mostly children and women, more than 11,000 missing persons, hundreds of thousands displaced, famine claiming many lives—mostly children—and widespread destruction that has erased most cities and regions of Gaza from the map.
