The German Red Cross stated that the already deteriorating conditions for the residents of the Gaza Strip have worsened further during the winter season.
Hermann Grohe, head of the German Red Cross, told the German newspaper Rheinische Post: “The winter months, combined with poor supply conditions, are particularly devastating for children, the injured, and the elderly.”
Grohe highlighted a severe shortage of supplies, saying: “There is still a lack of everything—sufficient food, medical supplies, medicines, electricity, and water.”
Grohe, who previously served as Germany’s Minister of Health, added that the amount of humanitarian aid reaching the Gaza Strip remains insufficient, as the required target of 600 trucks per day is not being met.
According to Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), inadequate medical care in Gaza constitutes a major problem.
Christian Katzer, the organization’s executive director, told the newspaper: “Many Palestinians are dying from diseases that could have been treated.”
