A video captured by surveillance cameras shows a group of masked Zionist settlers armed with sticks assaulting a Palestinian man during an attack on a plant nursery in the village of Deir Sharaf in northern West Bank, according to eyewitnesses and footage obtained by the Associated Press.
The video shows people dressed in black with their faces covered, while several of them beat and kick a man lying on the ground.
Two witnesses from the family that owns the nursery said that settlers attacked 67-year-old Bassem Saleh Yassin as he tried to flee the site. He was transported to a hospital and is suffering from a broken hand and injuries to his face, chest, and back.
The witnesses spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation.
They added that the attackers set fire to four vehicles and destroyed property inside the nursery, which is run by a Palestinian-German family. This was the third such attack on the site within one year. One family member noted that a previous attack in September caused losses exceeding $600,000.
According to members of the nursery owner’s family, workers fled upon seeing the attackers, but Yassin, who is deaf, did not hear the warnings, leading the assailants to catch up with him and beat him after he fell to the ground, as shown in the video footage.
