In a serious military escalation reflecting extensive violations of Syrian territory and turning the south into an open field for military exercises, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has documented a notable acceleration in Zionist violations in the provinces of Daraa and Quneitra since the beginning of this year, including more than 16 ground incursions into Syrian territory.
The observatory explained that these violations are not limited to movements of Zionist military vehicles, but also include the demolition of civilian facilities, the arrest of citizens, and the raising of Israeli flags on strategic hills, while the “Golani authorities” maintain complete silence, and the military forces stationed in the area take no action to defend national sovereignty.
SOHR noted that the infiltrating units blew up what remained of the Golan Hospital structure in Quneitra city and raised the Israeli flag on Tal al-Ahmar in Quneitra within Syrian lands, alongside heavy gunfire in the town of al-Hamidiyah in the Quneitra countryside, intended to intimidate local residents and prevent them from approaching the area.
Timeline of Violations:
-
January 1: A Zionist military force fired directly at a group of civilians collecting mushrooms near al-Rafeed village in southern Quneitra countryside and targeted shepherds with machine guns in the same area, causing panic but no reported casualties.
-
January 2: SOHR documented a ground incursion in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa, where three Zionist military vehicles crossed the border toward “Jumla Company,” alongside intensive Zionist warplane flights over Daraa.
-
January 3: Eight Zionist military vehicles entered Bureiqah village in southern Quneitra before splitting and moving toward “Old Bureiqah” without conducting searches or arrests. Early that day, five vehicles crossed through the Abu Rajm crossing west of Ain al-Qadi village, searched one house, then withdrew.
-
January 4: Successive explosions were heard in Quneitra province, identified as flares launched over Tal al-Ahmar east, coinciding with Zionist military movements behind the disengagement line.
-
January 6: A Zionist patrol of two military vehicles penetrated west of al-Rafeed town with drone overflights, without direct clashes. Zionist forces stationed at the border fired randomly and intensively toward homes in al-Hamidiyah, accompanied by loudspeaker warnings. On the same day, a force detonated explosives in what remained of the Golan Hospital building in Quneitra.
-
January 7: A Zionist patrol entered between Sayda al-Hanut and Razniyah villages in southern Quneitra. Three incursions near Tal al-Ahmar east involved raising the Israeli flag. Four young civilians were arrested after midnight at a checkpoint near the junction of Ain al-Bayda in northern Quneitra.
-
January 8: A Zionist patrol entered Bureiqah, Bir Ajam, and Kudna villages, reaching Tal al-Ahmar western base, where the Israeli flag was raised. Another patrol crossed Jumla and Saysoon villages in the Yarmouk Basin of western Daraa, launching a flare toward Daraa countryside.
-
January 9: UNDOF (United Nations Disengagement Observer Force) deployed in northern Quneitra to limit incursions. On the same day, Zionist forces entered Sayda and Jabata al-Khashab villages, setting temporary checkpoints before withdrawal. The Zionist “Alp Men” unit completed military exercises on Mount Hermon within Syrian territory.
SOHR strongly condemned the “complete” governmental silence toward incursions, arrests, and destruction of facilities, stating that the military forces’ inaction raises serious questions about the nature of possible understandings or operational incapacity to protect the area.
The observatory called on international bodies to immediately intervene to stop Israeli aggression targeting both civilians and property in southern Syria and to release the four detained civilians. SOHR confirmed it will continue documenting all violations and crimes committed against civilians, particularly in southern Syria.
