Amjad Al-Shawa, head of the Palestinian NGOs Network, said that humanitarian conditions are becoming increasingly complex and difficult for the population of the Gaza Strip amid the continued closure of the Rafah crossing and the failure to allow in the necessary humanitarian aid.
In press statements, Al-Shawa explained that at least 18,500 people are in urgent need of immediate treatment outside Gaza.
He called on the U.S. envoys to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to work to allow the immediate entry of aid, noting that 90 percent of the population of the Gaza Strip depends directly on assistance.
He added, “Many of the sector’s children have fallen ill due to the cold, and some of them have died.”
Al-Shawa also pointed out that enemy forces have surpassed what is known as the “Yellow Line” and expanded their presence inside the Gaza Strip, in a clear violation of existing arrangements.
He explained that the level of enemy control before the ceasefire came into effect was estimated at about 53 percent of the area of the Gaza Strip, but has now risen to more than 60 percent amid ongoing field expansion.
In May 2024, “Israel” occupied the Palestinian side of the crossing as part of a war of genocide it launched against Gaza on October 7, 2023, which has continued for two years.
On October 10, the first phase of a ceasefire began based on a plan by U.S. President Donald Trump, but “Israel” violates it daily, leading to the killing of 477 Palestinians and the injury of 1,301 others.
“Israel” also severely restricts the entry of food supplies, medicines, medical equipment, and shelter materials into Gaza, where about 2.4 million Palestinians are living in catastrophic conditions.
