Thousands of Venezuelans protested on Friday in the heart of Caracas, demanding the release of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, who was abducted by the United States, emphasizing that their detention is unjust and illegal.

Protesters raised a large banner near Olari Square in central Caracas that read, “We Want Them Back,” referring to Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello stated in remarks broadcast on state television that “our greatest victory these days will be the return of President Maduro and Cilia.”

In a related development, President Maduro’s son, Deputy Nicolás Ernesto Maduro Guerra, called for large-scale demonstrations in the United States, Europe, and other regions of the world on February 3, aiming to pressure the White House to release President Maduro and his wife.

The call came during a video conference coordinating global efforts to show solidarity with the Venezuelan leader and demand his release.

During his speech, Maduro Guerra said that U.S. aggression against Venezuela sends a message that it is capable of imposing its fascist ideology by force, warning that “the world is witnessing the privatization of international law.”

On the 3rd of this month, the United States launched an aggression on Caracas and other areas, targeting ports, airports, and military bases, and reportedly abducted President Maduro and his wife, taking them to New York.

The United States is holding the kidnapped Venezuelan president for trial before a federal judge in the Manhattan federal court in New York.
