Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Abdulwahid Abu Ras met on Monday with Mohammed Al-Ghanam, Director of the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Yemen, to discuss areas of mutual cooperation and ways to develop and strengthen them.
During the meeting, the deputy foreign minister reaffirmed Sanaa’s support for the efforts undertaken by the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy, as well as all initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive and just peace in Yemen. He stressed the need for the United Nations to shoulder its responsibilities and to address shortcomings that have accompanied its performance in recent years.
Abu Ras also underscored the Foreign Ministry’s readiness to provide all necessary facilitation for the work of international organizations in Yemen, in a manner that contributes to the success of their missions and the effective achievement of their humanitarian and developmental objectives.
For his part, Al-Ghanam reiterated the United Nations’ commitment to continuing its endeavors and efforts to realize peace in Yemen and to end the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people.
