The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced on Monday that millions of Sudanese have returned to nearly 2,500 locations across nine Sudanese states.

The organization noted that “return rates recorded a 10% increase compared to the previous month, indicating a growing pace of returns despite ongoing security and humanitarian challenges.”

In a report covering the period from November 1 to November 30, 2025, the IOM explained that “the data were collected from more than 12,000 sites in 185 localities across all states of Sudan.”

It added that “83% of the returnees were internally displaced persons, while 17% returned from outside the country.”

The organization stated that “children under the age of 18 constituted 55% of those returning from internal displacement, and 45% of those returning from abroad.”

It also confirmed that “the number of internally displaced persons in Sudan remains high, reaching 9,258,273 displaced people distributed across more than 11,000 sites in 185 areas.”

The IOM report further said that “the number of displaced persons decreased in 11 states, while it increased in Central Darfur, East Darfur, North Darfur, South Darfur, and West Darfur, as well as South Kordofan, White Nile, and Khartoum, amid continued clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.”
