The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed that its schools, which have been converted into shelters in Gaza, have been subjected to direct or indirect shelling by Zionist enemy forces, which demolished seven schools during the current month of January.

In a post on the platform X on Thursday, the agency said: “Throughout the current month of January, reports indicated that UNRWA schools that have been converted into shelters in Gaza were subjected to direct or indirect shelling.”

The agency added that Zionist forces demolished seven schools, according to the latest UNRWA reports.

It explained that “despite the ceasefire being in effect since October 10, 2025, bombs are still falling.”

UNRWA continued: “The ceasefire was supposed to provide a breathing space after two years of grief, suffering, and deep and overwhelming pain endured by a very large number of people,” stressing that “a ceasefire should mean safety.”

The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip came into effect on October 10, following a Zionist war of genocide that lasted for two consecutive years. However, the Zionist enemy ‘army’ continues to carry out daily violations of the agreement and still prevents the entry of the majority of humanitarian aid into the Strip.
