Hazem Qassem, spokesperson for Hamas, said that the deliberate targeting of schools during the American-Zionist aggression against Iran represents a repetition of the occupation’s conduct throughout the war of genocide in Gaza.
In a press statement on Saturday, Qassem pointed out that hundreds of schools were targeted during the war in Gaza, where thousands of people were killed inside them.
He added that the “shameful silence” of the international community regarding what had been happening in Gaza is the same disgrace and dishonor reflected in its silence over what is taking place in Iran.
An analysis by the American newspaper The New York Times revealed that the strike which targeted a girls’ elementary school in the city of Minab in southern Iran on the first day of the war, February 28, occurred simultaneously with a U.S. attack on a nearby naval base belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps. This timing suggests American responsibility for the school bombing.
Iranian officials and media reported that the strike resulted in the deaths of at least 175 people, most of them children who were inside the school at the time of the opening attack.
