The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement has stated that recent remarks by the Zionist "Finance Minister" Bezalel Smotrich reveal dangerous expansionist plans that threaten the wider region.
In a statement issued on Friday, the movement said that Smotrich’s comments regarding plans to establish new settlements in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Syria, in addition to expanding settlements in the West Bank, expose “serious expansionist projects” posing a broad threat beyond Palestine.
The movement added that these statements confirm that the Zionist so called government is pursuing expansionist policies based on bloodshed and the imposition of facts on the ground. It stressed that such policies do not only threaten the Palestinian people, but extend to the peoples of the entire region.
According to the statement, the remarks made by the Zionist official reflect the nature of the government and its settlement agenda, calling for firm opposition to these policies.
The Islamic Jihad Movement also urged Arab and Muslim nations to confront the expansionist projects by all available means, in order to preserve land, dignity, and the future.
The group emphasized that resistance remains the primary path to confronting these policies and continuing to oppose them despite ongoing challenges.
Smotrich had announced on Thursday that the Zionist entity intends to expand its boundaries in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Syria. Speaking during an opening of a new settlement, he indicated that alongside military achievements there is a “political component” involving territorial expansion in Gaza, an extension into southern Lebanon up to the Litani River, and toward areas in Syria, according to his remarks.
