Mohsen Rezaei, a member of the Expediency Discernment Council of Iran, said Tehran will not back down from its 10-point proposal, under any circumstances, despite US threats to impose a naval blockade.
Rezaei warned that any US ground incursion would result in the capture of thousands of American soldiers and impose “billions in costs” for each captive.
He further stated that US President Donald Trump is seeking to position himself as a “policeman of the Strait of Hormuz,” in remarks referring to US policy toward the strategic maritime chokepoint.
Iranian ships continue Strait of Hormuz transit despite US threats
Several Iranian vessels have reportedly passed through the Strait of Hormuz and into surrounding waters despite US threats to impose a naval blockade, Tasnim News Agency reported.
In detail, an Iranian ship named "Golbon", which is subject to US Treasury sanctions, transited the Strait of Hormuz and continued its voyage near the entrance to the Gulf of Oman.
The report said the vessel’s movement occurred despite the US threats to impose a naval blockade.
Tasnim also said the cargo ship "Sea Champion" successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz and entered the Sea of Oman, adding that multiple Iranian vessels have recently passed through the strategic waterway, citing independent ship-tracking data.
