The spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters stated that the  American aggressor, violated a ceasefire by opening fire on an Iranian commercial vessel in the waters of the Sea of Oman. According to the statement, American forces also disrupted the ship’s navigation system and deployed a number of their marine infantry personnel onto the vessel, in a blatant act of aggression.

Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters warned that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran would soon respond to the criminal act of armed piracy by the American military. The statement emphasized that Iran would carry out an appropriate response and escalation.

In the same context, Tasnim News Agency reported that Iranian forces launched drone attacks on several American warships following the American assault on the Iranian vessel.

Amid the rising tensions, Reuters reported that Brent crude futures surged by more than 7 percent, reaching $97.50 per barrel.
