Senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi stated that the opening of the “Sanur” settlement south of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, with official backing from Zionist enemy authorities, represents a dangerous and escalating step aimed at altering the character of the land and targeting the Palestinian people in the West Bank and beyond. He stressed that this development calls for broad mobilization to confront settlement expansion plans.

Mardawi said in press statements on Sunday that the opening ceremony—attended by settler leaders and Israeli entity officials—indicates that the situation has entered “an unprecedented phase of settlement expansion,” which he said falls within a broader plan of annexation and full control over the West Bank and Palestinian territories.

Mardawi also warned of the consequences and risks associated with settlement projects in the northern West Bank, including the reactivation of previously evacuated outposts. He called for an escalation of public response and the use of all forms of resistance to counter these projects and protect Palestinian land from violations by Zionist enemey forces and settlers.
