Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad this Friday evening, according to a Pakistani ministerial source cited by Al Mayadeen.

Earlier, Pakistani sources told Reuters that an Iranian delegation would reach Islamabad later in the day, noting that a second round of negotiations with America is expected to take place.

The sources added that Araghchi will be accompanied by a small negotiating team, while an American logistical and security team is already present in Islamabad.

This development comes just hours after a phone call between Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the two officials exchanged views during the call on a potential ceasefire between America and Iran, and reviewed ongoing Pakistani diplomatic efforts in this regard.

Araghchi also held a separate phone conversation with Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, as part of the ongoing diplomatic engagements surrounding the anticipated talks.
