Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) warned on Tuesday that the Zionist enemy is deliberately depriving residents of the Gaza Strip of the water necessary for survival, condemning the campaign of collective punishment against Palestinians.

The organization said that the widespread destruction of Gaza’s civilian water infrastructure, combined with restrictions preventing access to water sources, constitutes “an integral part of the genocide being carried out by "Israel" in the territory.”

In its report titled Water as a Weapon, MSF stated that the “engineered scarcity” of water is occurring alongside “the killing of civilians, the destruction of healthcare facilities, and the destruction of homes.”

The report, based on testimonies and data collected by the organization between 2024 and 2025, warned that these actions are “imposing devastating and inhumane living conditions on the Palestinian population in Gaza.”

MSF Emergency Coordinator Claire San Filippo said in a statement, “The "Israeli" authorities know that life cannot continue without water.”

She added, “Nevertheless, they have deliberately and systematically destroyed Gaza’s water infrastructure, while at the same time continuing to block the entry of water-related supplies.”

Despite a ceasefire agreement that came into effect in October last year, the Gaza Strip continues to witness daily violence amid ongoing Zionist enemy strikes and mutual accusations between the Zionist enemy forces and the Hamas movement of violating the truce.

The MSF report cited data issued by the United Nations, the European Union, and the World Bank indicating that "Israel" has destroyed or damaged around 90 percent of Gaza’s water and sanitation infrastructure.

The organization said that desalination plants, wells, pipelines, and sewage networks have become either inoperable or inaccessible. It also documented several incidents in which its water trucks and wells came under fire or were destroyed.

According to San Filippo, “Palestinians have been injured and killed simply for trying to access water.”

MSF also noted that, together with local authorities, it is the largest producer and one of the main distributors of drinking water in Gaza.
