Hamas announced its full commitment, alongside Palestinian resistance factions, to all provisions of the Sharm el-Sheikh Ceasefire Agreement aimed at halting hostilities in the Gaza Strip, including the handover of prisoners and bodies according to the agreed timetable, despite challenges resulting from the extensive destruction in the territory.
In a statement issued on Friday, the movement said that the Zionist enemy had failed to uphold its commitments and had continued military operations under the cover of the agreement. It added that daily violations, including the targeting of civilians among them children and women, reflected ongoing escalation.
Hamas stated that the tightening of the blockade and starvation policies, alongside the continued closure of the Rafah Crossing or its limited opening, as well as the movement of the so-called “yellow line” westward in several areas, are indicators that the Zionist enemy is evading its obligations and undermining mediation efforts.
The movement added that the continuation of these violations despite the signing of the agreement constitutes an extension of the war on the Gaza Strip and entrenches an extremely dangerous humanitarian and legal situation, as more than two million Palestinians continue to suffer under blockade and harsh living conditions.
Hamas called on mediators and guarantor states to adopt a clear and firm position regarding these violations and to work to ensure implementation of the agreement’s provisions in a way that compels the Zionist enemy to honor its commitments and puts an end to the escalation and humanitarian suffering in the Gaza Strip.
