The spokesperson for Hamas, Hazem Qassem, said that the Zionist enemy army’s targeting of Azzam al-Hayya, the son of Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya, is part of the ongoing crimes committed against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Qassem stated that the al-Hayya family has already “offered several of its sons, grandsons, and relatives as martyrs on the path to al-Quds,”
He added that the Zionist enemy is attempting, through these strikes, to take revenge on Khalil al-Hayya because of his “honest representation of the Palestinian people’s interests and his authentic expression of the resistance’s position on the ground.”
Qassem affirmed that Khalil al-Hayya, known as “Abu Osama,” will remain “a steadfast mountain among the mountains of Palestine,” and will continue his commitment to his people and resistance until freedom and independence are achieved.
In a separate statement, Hamas said that the escalation by the Zionist enemy army in targeting civilians in Gaza — including airstrikes on the al-Daraj and al-Zeitoun neighborhoods in Gaza City, as well as al-Mawasi west of Khan Younis — which resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, represents a continued violation of the ceasefire agreement signed in Sharm El-Sheikh, and an extension of the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The movement added that the Zionist enemy government continues its crimes against civilians under the cover of the ceasefire agreement, without facing any deterrent response that would stop these serious violations of the agreement and international humanitarian law.
Hamas called on the United States administration and the guarantor states of the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement to intervene urgently to restrain the Israeli enemy and compel it to stop its attacks on civilians in Gaza.
It also urged the United Nations and its institutions, particularly the Security Council, to take measures ensuring the protection of the Palestinian people and an end to attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip.
