The head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Khalil al-Hayya, said that the ongoing crimes committed against the people of the Gaza Strip “are unjustifiable under any circumstances,” stressing that the Zionist enemy's "army" is rebelling against decisions and signed agreements related to the ceasefire.
In press statements made after midnight on Wednesday, al-Hayya said that negotiations remain stalled due to the Zionist enemy intransigence and failure to comply with the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement, noting that the Zionist enemy is “disregarding everything,” which places mediators and guarantors under responsibility.
He added that Hamas has presented several initiatives and fully committed to all its obligations, while the Zionist enemy has not adhered to what was agreed upon. The Zionist enemy is maintaining a “fixed position” and refusing to implement the requirements of the first phase of the agreement, which is obstructing the transition to the second phase of negotiations.
Al-Hayya stressed that the movement is ready to enter discussions on the second phase, provided that the Zionist enemy implements the provisions of the first phase of the agreement. He emphasized the need for guarantors and mediators to compel the Israeli side to comply, noting that there are “clear documents and a signed agreement.”
He called the implementation of the first phase as the true test of the Zionist enemy's commitment to the agreement, questioning whether it is possible to move to the second phase while the technocratic committee is still being prevented from entering the Gaza Strip.
In a related context, al-Hayya referred to the Zionist enemy airstrike that targeted a group of civilians in Aal-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City on Wednesday evening, which resulted in the killing of one Palestinian and the injury of others, including his son, Azzam al-Hayya.
He said that all those targeted in Gaza are “sons of the Palestinian people,” stressing that the ongoing Zionist attacks against civilians cannot be justified in any form.
Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated that the Zionist enemy is “attempting to take revenge on Khalil al-Hayya” due to his representation of the resistance’s position and his expression of the Palestinian people’s interests, adding that targeting his son is an extension of the Zionist enemy's crimes against Gaza residents.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, Zionist enemy forces struck a group of civilians in al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City, killing one Palestinian and injuring several others, including Azzam al-Hayya.
Zionist enemy forces continue, for the 209th consecutive day, to violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip through artillery shelling, gunfire, and the demolition of civilian homes and infrastructure.
