Tehran announced on Saturday that it has prepared a “professional mechanism” to regulate maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, with details expected to be revealed in the near future.

Ebrahim Azizi, head of the National Security Committee in the Iranian Parliament, stated that the new system for managing traffic through the strait will soon be disclosed. He noted that its benefits will be limited to commercial vessels and parties cooperating with Iran.

Azizi added that fees will be charged in the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for specialized services provided under the new mechanism. He also indicated that the route will remain closed to operators associated with the “so-called Freedom Project.”

Earlier on Saturday, the Fars News Agency reported on a document suggesting that Iran’s Ministry of Economy is pursuing a plan aimed at enabling the management of the strait through an insurance-based system.

According to the document, the plan is designed to gain acceptance among countries under non-war conditions, thereby allowing Iran to oversee the strategic waterway. It further stated that the mechanism would provide Iran with the capability for intelligence monitoring and the differentiation of vessel movements based on their national affiliations.

The document emphasized that control over the Strait of Hormuz will remain in Iran’s hands indefinitely, citing the damages caused by the passage of enemy vessels through the waterway.

The Islamic Republic has rejected any compromise over the Strait of Hormuz, with officials confirming that the situation in the strait after the war is no longer the same as before, alongside the introduction of a new system to manage maritime navigation.
