The World Health Organization’s representative in the Palestinian territories described the current situation in the Gaza Strip as “dire,” stressing that thousands of injured individuals are not receiving necessary and life-saving medical care.
In statements to the press, the UN official explained that the majority of those wounded are in urgent need of travel outside the Gaza Strip to access specialized medical treatment, due to the collapse of the local healthcare system.
The WHO representative further emphasized that the immediate entry of medical equipment and supplies has become an absolute necessity—not only to treat patients and the injured, but also to curb the spread of infections, diseases, and epidemics within overcrowded hospitals and shelter centers.
