Lebanese Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal affirmed on Friday that the army will remain a “solid barrier” against conspiracies aimed at destabilizing the country and undermining civil peace.
In an official “Order of the Day” marking the Resistance and Liberation Day, the army chief described the anniversary as a national milestone and a “bright marker” amid the existential challenges facing Lebanon.
He stated that the occasion embodies the Lebanese people’s steadfast commitment to their land, sovereignty, and national dignity in the face of Israeli occupation. He also recalled the sacrifices of martyrs and all those who contributed to safeguarding the nation, emphasizing that “from that phase, we draw the spirit of resilience and unity.”
Haykal added that Lebanon continues to suffer from the repercussions of Israeli aggression, including widespread destruction, thousands of martyrs and wounded, and the ongoing occupation of Lebanese territories.
In this context, he noted that the army is exerting maximum effort despite complex conditions and significant dangers to mitigate the effects of the aggression. He stressed that the military is also working tirelessly to support citizens, particularly the displaced and those who remain steadfast in affected areas.
Addressing army personnel, Haykal urged them to “hold firmly to your mission, maintain your morale and constant readiness,” and to remain confident that civil peace and national unity are the most powerful tools to protect Lebanon and ensure its stability.
He further told soldiers that there is strong hope for the recovery of every inch of Lebanese land, highlighting that the Lebanese people, through their sacrifices, set an example of determination and willpower.
The army chief also warned that undermining the military institution or casting doubt on its role serves Lebanon’s enemies. He affirmed that the army will remain strong and cohesive—thanks to the resilience of its soldiers and the sacrifices of its martyrs and wounded—as the guardian of national unity.
This comes as Zionist enemy attacks continue against villages and towns in southern Lebanon, targeting civilians, their homes, and their lands.
