Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated that the ongoing crimes, violations, and continued escalation by the Zionist enemy against the Gaza Strip—evident last night in the shelling of residential homes and the displacement of their inhabitants—represent a clear reversal of the understandings and agreements reached under the sponsorship of mediators.
Qassem explained on Saturday that the agreements stipulated the withdrawal of the enemy's forces and the not imposing new realities on the ground. However, the occuapation has continued bombardment, destruction, and incursions into civilian residential areas in an attempt to impose a fait accompli and tighten pressure on the population.
He stressed that what is occurring is not a series of isolated violations, but rather a systematic assault and a disregard for mediation efforts and guarantees, as well as a continuation of policies of siege, starvation, and killing affecting more than two million people.
Qassem called on mediators and the parties that witnessed the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement and the so-called Peace Council to take urgent action to halt these serious violations and compel the Israeli enemy to fulfill its commitments and roll back its criminal excesses.
Zionist forces continue to violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip through aerial and artillery bombardment targeting areas where displaced people are located, alongside demolition and destruction operations within what is known as the “yellow line,” while maintaining restrictions on the movement of goods, humanitarian aid, and travel.
According to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the death toll since the ceasefire began on October 10 has risen to 890 fatalities, in addition to 2,677 injuries, along with 777 recorded cases of bodies recovered.
The overall toll from the Zionist aggression since October 7, 2023 has reached approximately 72,783 deaths and 172,779 injuries, highlighting the heavy human cost of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
