The hacker collective known as "Handala" announced that it has breached water facilities in the U.S. state of California, stating that the operation comes in response to "U.S. attacks on civilians and water infrastructure in Iran," according to the Fars News Agency.
The group emphasized that, despite gaining access to the relevant systems, it refrained from causing any disruption to the water supply of American cities.
It pointed out that this move served as a "warning message" directed at Washington. The collective further warned that any action taken against Iran would be met with a reciprocal response targeting critical infrastructure.
In a simultaneous announcement, the Handala group stated it had compromised the drone system belonging to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and exfiltrated classified data.
The group asserted that it had secured full access to the images and data of these drones spanning several months.
Furthermore, it noted that information concerning FBI personnel and agents is also available to it, revealing that it is currently capable of monitoring developments at U.S. military bases in Bahrain via the U.S. military's MQ-9 aircraft.
