Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Iran has not reached a final position or a decisive resolution regarding the agreement up to this moment, emphasizing that what is being circulated about the deal remains within the realm of speculation and nothing has been definitively settled yet.
Baghaei added that the draft memorandum of understanding is almost ready, but the problem lies in the contradictory American statements and positions.
He explained that the decision-making mechanism in Iran is clear, and the relevant authorities in the country must reach a final conclusion regarding all the details and fine points of the understanding.
Furthermore, Baghaei pointed out that Qatar and Pakistan are playing an active mediating role, noting that the final drafting of a large portion of the text was ready, but the American side kept changing its positions during the discussions.
He asserted that Iran has proven it does not show any leniency or compromise regarding what it considers red lines and non-negotiable constants, pointing out that the Americans have tried to impose certain issues in recent days, but Iran has proven that it will not surrender.
Baghaei also noted that the Americans are trying to portray Iran as being influenced by pressure and threats.
This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that a "great settlement" had been reached with Iran, mentioning the possibility of signing an agreement with it in Europe in the coming days, "as soon as the finalization of documents is completed."
Concurrently, the Fars News Agency quoted an informed source close to the Iranian negotiating team confirming that no text for the initial memorandum of understanding with the United States has been adopted so far.
