The Iranian Directorate for the Management of Waterways in the Gulf Waters announced on Thursday that the Strait of Hormuz "will remain closed until further notice."
The directorate explained that this decision comes in the wake of "tensions incited by the aggressive American forces in the region, and based on the statement issued by the Iranian Armed Forces." The Iranian directorate also called upon all entities holding transit permits to practice patience and await subsequent instructions issued by the competent authorities.
On Wednesday, the "Khatam al-Anbiya" Central Headquarters announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to the movement of all types of vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships, stressing that any movement within the strait would be targeted.
The headquarters stated that the decision comes within the framework of the continuation of criminal, aggressive American actions, and in light of the commencement of U.S. military attacks on certain southern areas in Hormozgan Province. It added that the United States' claim regarding the passage of any ship through the Strait of Hormuz is "false."
Concurrently, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it launched strikes targeting U.S. bases in the region, inflicting noticeable damage on expensive equipment belonging to U.S. forces. These actions were taken in retaliation for an overnight U.S. military aggression against areas in southern Iran, according to the Fars News Agency,
