The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, emphasized that the funeral procession of the martyred Sayyid Ali Khamenei represents a significant event for the Islamic Republic and the free people of the world, noting that the relevant authorities continue to finalize the necessary arrangements to hold the ceremonies.
Baghaei stated that relations between Iran and Iraq are strong and solid, explaining that one of the primary objectives of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s visit to Baghdad was to coordinate with Iraqi officials regarding the arrangements for the funeral ceremony.
He praised the Iraqi stance during the war, describing it as "responsible and in solidarity with their brothers in the Islamic Republic," and stressed that Tehran deeply appreciates this position. He added that there is widespread anticipation among the Iraqi people for the funeral, noting that Iraqis are awaiting the arrival of the martyred leader's body to participate in the farewell ceremonies.
Turning to political matters, Baghaei asserted that Iran is monitoring the other party's level of compliance with its commitments moment by moment, emphasizing the necessity of its full adherence to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) and the implementation of all its clauses.
Furthermore, he called on the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to adhere to his technical duties rather than issuing political statements, reaffirming that Iran will not abandon any opportunity to secure its national interests and the interests of the region's peoples.
Regarding Lebanon, Baghaei stressed that the position of the Islamic Republic remains clear and firm, maintaining that the United States bears the responsibility for executing its explicit commitment to end the war on all fronts.
He concluded by stressing that any breach by the United States of the clauses of the memorandum of understanding will undoubtedly have a negative impact on the current path, holding the other party fully responsible for complying with what was agreed upon to ensure the continuity of this process.
