Taher Al-Nounou, the Political Advisor to the Head of Hamas's Political Bureau, announced the arrival of a Hamas delegation in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Tuesday morning. The delegation is led by Zaher Jabarin, the movement's head in the West Bank.
Al-Nounou indicated that the delegation is scheduled to hold meetings with Egyptian officials and mediators with the objective of finalizing the implementation of the ceasefire agreements.
He added, "The delegation places at the top of its agenda halting the escalating Zionist violations in the Gaza Strip, as well as the daily crimes of killing and assassination. It also aims to guarantee the occupation’s commitment to allowing the entry of the Gaza Strip's complete necessities, including materials needed for the restoration of hospitals, bakeries, and infrastructure, as well as implementing the remaining clauses of the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement."
He continued, "This round will also include completing discussions on the roadmap prepared by Mr. Mladenov, in cooperation with fellow mediators, for the second phase of the agreement. This covers the entry of the administrative committee and international protection forces, leading up to a complete Israeli withdrawal from all territories of the Gaza Strip."
Al-Nounou concluded by stating, "We are serious about reaching an agreement that ends the suffering of our people, halts the crimes of the Zionist enemy, and achieves progress toward restoring the political rights of our people, foremost among them freedom and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state."
