Yet, behind every number lies a story, and behind every statistic is a soul that once harbored dreams and hopes. The figures of this tragedy chronicle a population groaning under the rubble of genocide, reflecting an scale of Zionism criminality that surpasses all imagination.
A thousand days—a number that may seem fleeting in the passage of time, but in Gaza, it represents an eternity of continuous suffering. A thousand days where the sun never set except on a new scene of destruction, and the morning never broke without a new tale of loss. Some 2.4 million people have been transformed by Zionist criminality into shadows moving amidst the debris, searching for shelter from unrelenting bombardment, a morsel to quiet the cries of hunger, and a drop of water to quench an unceasing thirst.
Ninety percent of the Gaza Strip has sustained destruction. Entire neighborhoods have been erased from existence, and streets that once bore witness to life have become corridors for the bereaved. Hospitals have received 73,066 martyrs, while 9,500 individuals remain missing—their families left not knowing whether they survive beneath the rubble or if they passed away without the dignity of a burial.
During these thousand days, 21,500 children lost their lives. "Child"—a word that embodies the very essence of innocence. Among them were 1,022 infants who had not even crossed their first year of life, who had not yet learned to walk. Of these, 520 infants were born and martyred during the war itself; born to see the light, only to depart before truly experiencing it. What heart can endure a woman giving birth amid bombardment, only to lose her child days, weeks, or months later? Yet, it is no surprise, for as long as the perpetrators are the occupation forces, one must expect actions that defy the limits of brutality.
As for women, 12,500 have been killed, 9,000 of whom were mothers. Imagine: nine thousand homes have lost a mother. Nine thousand children no longer have a warm embrace to seek when gripped by fear. Conversely, 22,500 fathers have perished, leaving behind children who ask, "When is father coming back?" All this and more transpires in the 21st century—an era heralded as the age of freedom and human rights.
Families Erased from the Civil Registry
Here, the tragedy reaches its zenith: 2,700 families have been completely annihilated, erased entirely from the civil registry. They no longer exist on paper or in reality, becoming mere memories for those who knew them. A total of 8,574 martyrs belonged to these families alone—families that possessed history, dreams, and a future, only to become a zero in the ledgers of life. Another 6,020 families were wiped out, leaving behind only a single survivor. A solitary human being bearing the weight of an entire lineage, sitting in a tent or beneath the rubble, recalling the faces of loved ones and wondering: Why did I survive?
Thus, reality has been inverted. While the international community should act to rid humanity of this malice, Zionist criminality and corruption dominate the global stage. Simultaneously, those demanding their usurped rights are slaughtered in full view of the world. Does this not highlight the critical importance of bearing arms of all kinds in the face of such criminality?
Hunger as a Weapon: A Slow Death in front of the Eyes of the World
In the twenty-first century, humans are dying of starvation in Gaza. Four hundred and sixty martyrs have passed away due to hunger and malnutrition, including 164 children. Children went to sleep to the whimpering of their empty stomachs and never woke up. Pregnant women miscarried due to the severe lack of nutrition, with miscarriage cases reaching 12,000.
Forty thousand infants under the age of one face the threat of death by starvation due to a shortage of milk. Mothers find nothing to feed their nursing babies, watching them wither away day by day, powerless to act. What agony forces a mother to feel helpless in shielding her child from a hunger they bore no hand in causing?
For 650 days, the crossings have been completely sealed. Three hundred and ninety thousand aid trucks have been barred from entering. Food, medicine, water, and fuel have all been weaponized in a merciless war. Some 5,200 children require urgent medical evacuation, 12,500 cancer patients face death without treatment, 350,000 chronic disease patients are in critical danger, and 107,000 pregnant and lactating women are left without healthcare.
Let us pause here for a moment and reflect: those who commit these atrocities are labeled by the UN Security Council as advocates of peace and peaceful people. In Europe and the US, if you speak out against the perpetrators of this criminality, you are accused of anti-Semitism. What justice are they speaking of? And who would be foolish enough to relinquish their weapons while facing such adversaries?
Education: A Generation Stripped of its Future
In Gaza, 620,000 school-aged students have been deprived of their education by the Israeli adversary. Ninety thousand university students have also been barred from their campuses. More than 20,000 students have been martyred by Zionist fire. Imagine an entire classroom where all pupils and teachers have become martyrs, the school itself demolished, and the road leading to it destroyed. What then is the fate of the silent and the complicit?
Eight hundred and thirty teachers and educational staff were killed by the Israeli military. How many educational dreams were buried with them? One hundred and ninety-four scientists, academics, and researchers have perished, leaving behind incomplete research, undiscovered insights, and brilliant minds extinguished at the peak of their productivity. Seventeen universities and higher education institutions have been totally or partially destroyed. Is all this criminality not a testament to a brutal psyche, as affirmed by the Holy Quran?
Doctors Become Casualties
A total of 1,700 medical personnel have been martyred. Doctors, nurses, and paramedics lost their lives while attempting to save others. They rushed toward bombardment sites rather than fleeing them, searching for a bleeding casualty, a suffocating child beneath the rubble, or an elderly person unable to move. The Israeli adversary targeted them despite their Red Crescent insignia, as though the emblem had become a target rather than a shield.
Thirty-eight hospitals have been bombed, destroyed, or rendered non-operational. Ninety-nine healthcare centers did not escape damage. Seventy-nine ambulances were targeted. Three hundred and sixty-two medical staff members were detained, with 83 remaining behind bars. Imagine a patient arriving at a hospital only to find it gone, a wounded person waiting for an ambulance that will never arrive, or a doctor practicing medicine in a tent without tools or anesthesia. Worse still, the World Health Organization and other bodies remained passive, and all slogans advocating for the sanctity of health facilities vanished. But because the Zionist is the perpetrator, it causes no stir; international institutions seem to have been established only to obscure these crimes and defend them in international forums.
Stolen Childhood: Incomplete Tales
Fifty-eight thousand eight hundred children have been orphaned in this war. Among them, 2,700 have lost both parents, leaving them entirely alone in the world—with no father to protect them and no mother to hold them. Textbooks show 6,100 children lost their mothers, and 50,000 lost their fathers. Every morning, these children wake up to an unyielding separation, asking questions to which no one holds the answers: Why did they leave? Will I see them again? Who will care for me now? Yet, once these children grow, they will realize the truth of what transpired, and the wager is placed on rising generations to seek justice for that blood.
If a child managed to survive an Israeli shell, they did not escape isolation and displacement. More than two million people have been subjected to forced displacement. Families left their homes for no reason other than the occupier's desire to destroy them to satisfy a malicious impulse. Out of 135,000 tents, 132,000 have completely deteriorated. Those who still have a tent to shelter them fear it will be torn by the wind or flooded by the rain, as the Israeli adversary bars the entry of even a single tent, compounding the punishment of those who survived.
Twenty-eight people died from the bitter cold in displacement camps, 25 of whom were children. Children were killed by the freezing cold inside a fabric tent, in a scene that drags humanity centuries backward.
Bombing of Mosques, Cemeteries, and Heritage
A total of 1,047 mosques were completely destroyed out of 1,275. Only a few minarets remain in Gaza to call for prayer five times a day. The minarets have fallen silent, but their silence speaks louder than any voice. Three churches were also targeted, and 20 members of the Christian community were killed in a war that does not differentiate between religions. Yet, most astonishingly, those who count themselves as Muslims deployed hundreds of aircraft, tanks, and tens of thousands of soldiers to kill their fellow Muslims in battles they dubbed "Defending Islam." What Islam did they defend? And why do these forces fall silent in front of the primary adversary of the Islamic Ummah?
Forty cemeteries out of sixty were destroyed. Two thousand four hundred and fifty bodies were stolen from graves. Even the deceased were not spared from Zionist desecration. The adversary established seven mass graves inside hospitals, from which 529 martyrs were exhumed. When hospitals turn into graveyards, know that you are facing a grim chapter of Zionist criminality.
Some 208 archaeological and heritage sites were targeted. Antiquities telling the stories of thousands of years of the land and its people were destroyed in moments—as if the war aims not only to kill the present but to erase the testimonies of the past as well.
The Land Was Not Spared: Destruction of Agriculture and Livestock
Eighty-seven percent of agricultural land has been destroyed. Eight thousand seven hundred agricultural wells have been rendered out of service. Seven thousand seven hundred and forty-eight cattle, sheep, and poultry farms were demolished. Ninety-nine percent of the fishing sector has been disrupted. The production of fruits and vegetables plummeted from 524,000 tons to a mere 20,000 tons.
These figures signify one thing: killing through various means and methods. The occupier offers nothing but death; those who did not perish by bombardment face death by starvation.
Sixty-nine thousand heads of livestock were killed. Cows that provided milk for children, sheep that were sources of meat and wool, and poultry that provided eggs—all are gone, leaving behind an unforgiving hunger.
Journalists Writing in Blood: Witnessing the Truth
Two hundred and sixty-two journalists have been martyred. Journalists were the world's eyes on Gaza; they were conveying the truth, and that truth became the reason for their death. They carried their cameras and pens, not to fight, but to document. Yet, it appears documenting the crime has become an offense punishable by death. This is how the adversary intended it for Gaza: to besiege, kill, and starve, hoping to conclude the story after killing both the victim and the witness. But that will never be achieved.
Untold Figures: Material Losses
The initial direct financial losses of this genocide have reached 80 billion dollars: 34 billion for the housing sector alone, 6 billion for the healthcare sector, and 4 billion for education. These are astronomical figures, yet they pale in comparison to the price of life. No billion dollars can compensate a mother for her son, nor can a rebuilt home restore the memories of the family that once inhabited it.
Some 510,000 housing units have been damaged, 335,000 of which were completely destroyed. Three hundred and fifty thousand Palestinian families are in need of shelter. Seven hundred and twenty-five central water wells were destroyed. Five thousand eighty kilometers of electricity networks were ruined. Three million linear meters of roads and streets were demolished. The infrastructure is entirely shattered. Does the world comprehend what these numbers mean? Has the disregard for Arab blood reached this level?
The Unending Narrative
These figures represent a human story. The story of a mother who bid farewell to her child but never relinquished the hope of a reunion. The story of a father who buried his family with his own hands beneath the rubble of his home. The story of a child who became an orphan before even understanding the meaning of orphanhood. The story of a patient waiting for medicine that never arrives. The story of a student searching for a pen among the ruins. The story of an entire people striving to remain human in a world that has forgotten its humanity.
On the thousandth day, these figures stand as proof that we face an entity whose criminality leaves no choice but to rid humanity of its malice and tyranny. The scene in Gaza is simple: Here humans existed, here humans lived, here humans died. All that remains of their memory is a number in a report—a testimony sufficient to silence those who claim to export peace and human rights.
A thousand days have passed. A thousand tales of pain. A thousand questions without answers. Yet, despite everything, Gaza continues to declare: We are here, and we shall remain. The free individuals of the Ummah will remain a thorn in the side of the Zionists; we shall find no rest as long as the occupiers tread upon the land of the Prophet's Night Journey (Al-Masra).
