The American news network CNN stated on Friday that Iran has sent a message of defiance to U.S. President Donald Trump through a massive funeral procession for the nation’s leader, the martyr Sayyid Ali Khamenei.
According to the network, this massive gathering aims to send a message to the world and to the enemies of the Islamic Republic that "the regime has not only survived an existential war but is also moving forward to immortalize its late leader as a symbol of its resilience."
Sina Toossi, a researcher, pointed out to CNN that "the assassination has made Khamenei symbolically more powerful in death than he was in life." He added: "Khamenei is now being portrayed as a martyred religious authority, akin to the revered Shiite figures who were martyred and whose manner of death proved the validity of their worldview."
On Friday dawn, the Al-Mayadeen correspondent reported that the body of the leader of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic in Iran, the martyr Sayyed Ali Khamenei, was transferred to the Tehran Musalla (prayer hall) in preparation for the launch of the official funeral ceremonies scheduled for tomorrow.
In this context, the spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baghaei, said that the farewell and funeral ceremonies for the body of the nation’s leader constitute "a historic event for the Iranian people, for Muslims, and for all free people of the world."
Baghaei added that senior officials from various countries, along with prominent political figures, will participate in the condolence ceremonies. He noted that Iran will receive guests from around 100 countries, including heads of government, speakers of parliament, foreign ministers, and special envoys.
The leader of the Revolution and the Islamic Republic, Sayyed Ali Khamenei, was martyred at his workplace in the "House of Leadership" while performing his duties, following an American-Israeli aggression that took place in the early hours of Saturday morning, February 28th.
