The Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr, has hit back at threats made by US President Donald Trump, describing him as a "delusional US president who today threatened 91 million Iranians."
Zolqadr stated that previously, in Trump's capacity as the president of a rootless nation with a history spanning just 250 years, he spoke in similar terms about destroying Iran's ancient, thousands-of-years-old civilization. He emphasized that the only result for him back then was defeat, despair, and a request for negotiations and a ceasefire.
Furthermore, he stressed that Iranians are unfamiliar with the language of threats, warning Trump that he must address the Iranian people with respect, or else they will be responded to in another language.
These Iranian remarks come following positions expressed by Trump, in which he claimed he prefers to strike a deal with Iran because he does not want to harm 91 million people, while alleging that he "does not seek regime change in Iran, despite the fact that what is happening is already regime change."
