The Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament), Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, has asserted that the United States has not yet learned that bullying and breaking covenants do not come without a price.
Qalibaf issued a direct warning to Washington, stating: "Let me say it clearly: if you strike, you will be struck," adding, "Do not flounder in vain, or you will sink even deeper."
Regarding maritime navigation, the Iranian parliamentary speaker stressed that the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen except under specific Iranian arrangements, rather than in response to American threats.
Qalibaf's statements follow extensive attacks launched by his country against U.S. bases in the region. These counter-strikes occurred after various areas within Iran were subjected to a U.S. aggression described as the largest since the signing of the "Memorandum of Understanding" between the two sides.
The Iranian retaliatory operations targeted infrastructure and vital facilities at U.S. military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. In a statement by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), it was revealed that the targeted U.S. facilities included Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, as well as the Naval Support Activity Bahrain (Juffair) and Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. The IRGC warned that any new aggression would be met with an expanded scope of attacks to encompass other U.S. bases across the region.
