The official state television and radio broadcasting corporation reported that "the pure body of the martyred Leader of the Revolution was laid to rest in the Dar al-Zikr portico within the Imam Reza Shrine."
The funeral prayer over the body of the martyred Sayyid Khamenei was led by his eldest son, Ayatollah Al-Haj Sayyid Mustafa Al-Husseini Al-Khamenei, at the Imam Reza Shrine. Following the prayer, the funeral procession commenced inside the holy Radhavi shrine, where mourners carried the body on their shoulders in a scene dominated by an atmosphere of profound grief and emotion.
This came after the city of Mashhad witnessed a solemn and majestic funeral ceremony on Thursday for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution and his martyred family members, amid a massive turnout of mourners and pilgrims who flocked from various parts of the country and the world to bid him farewell.
The historic funeral proceedings concluded after millions accompanied the body to the Holy Razavi Shrine, as the people of Mashhad and visiting pilgrims recorded poignant moments of farewell to their martyred leader with tearful eyes and sorrowful hearts.
Millions of people participated in the funeral proceedings since the public farewell ceremonies for the global leader first began last Saturday morning in the capital, Tehran. Crowds poured in from various Iranian provinces alongside participants from nearly 100 countries to pay their final respects.
The tense atmosphere did not dampen the enthusiasm of the Islamic Republic's supporters, many of whom traveled to the city of Mashhad to attend the burial of the global leader, following six days of funeral processions that attracted millions of people across several cities in Iran and Iraq.
Women of all ages, wearing black abayas, gathered along the avenue leading to the Imam Reza Shrine, the holiest Shia site in Iran.
Mourners continuously streamed into Mashhad throughout the night and hours before the procession began. Some waved large portraits of the Sayyid, while others chanted religious and revolutionary anthems demanding revenge for the martyr, his family, and all martyrs from the United States and the Israeli enemy entity.
