Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized today, Saturday, that his country has fulfilled its obligations outlined in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, stressing that commitment must be mutual.

In a post on the "X" platform, Araghchi stated: "Iran has so far fulfilled its promises, unlike the so-called U.S. Treasury Secretary who is violating Article 9 of the Memorandum of Understanding."

Article 9 of the memorandum stipulates that both parties (the United States and Iran) must maintain the status quo until a final agreement is reached, meaning Washington shall not impose new sanctions nor deploy additional military forces to the region.

This statement comes after the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on Sunday that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) had imposed sanctions on an Iranian financial facilitator and exchange companies.

The Iranian Foreign Minister added in his post: "This violation follows other violations and mistakes on the part of the United States."
