The Iranian Army has condemned the British Parliament's decision to ban the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and designate it as a "terrorist organization," considering that the decision reflects the double standards of British officials in dealing with the issue of terrorism.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Army’s Public Relations department stated that the IRGC has been "on the front lines of combating terrorism," noting that its record in confronting terrorist groups in the West Asia region and protecting the national and regional security of Iran stands as clear evidence of its role in this field.

The statement added that the IRGC's role has not been limited to the military aspect, but also encompasses social, cultural, and service roles within Iran and neighboring countries, emphasizing that it has been a "supporter of Muslims and the oppressed."

The Iranian Army’s Public Relations considered the British move to come despite "Britain's colonial history in the region," and accused certain Western nations of supporting terrorism in the region.

The statement affirmed the existence of "cohesion and a shared determination" between the Army and the IRGC, under the leadership of the Armed Forces, to confront threats and dangers, expressing its support for the IRGC in the face of the British decision.

Below is the full text of the Iranian Army’s Public Relations statement:

"The recent step taken by the British Parliament to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—which is considered one of the largest anti-terrorist forces in the world—as a 'terrorist organization,' stems from the malice, hypocrisy, and double standards of British officials in confronting the disgraceful phenomenon of terrorism in the world.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has always been on the front lines of combating terrorism. The historical record of this organization in fighting terrorism in the West Asia region, and protecting the national and regional security of Iran, is the clearest and most vivid proof of the tireless and self-sacrificing efforts made by the men and personnel of this force.

The role of the IRGC has not been limited to being merely a military force. Over the years, as a social and cultural force, it has provided valuable services to the Iranian people and neighboring countries, and has always been a champion of Muslims and the oppressed.

Such unwise measures by the British Parliament come at a time when the old British colonialism possesses a long and dark history of sowing division, creating sectarian factions, and supporting terrorism in the West Asia region. Meanwhile, the Zionist entity—alongside European governments and the United States—is not only the biggest supporter of terrorism in the world, but they also move toward achieving their malicious goals by supporting terrorist groups in the region.

The Public Relations of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while condemning the recent action of the British Parliament against the serving forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, emphasizes the cohesion and shared determination between the Army and the IRGC, under the leadership and directives of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, in confronting the threats, dangers, and aggressions of the sworn enemies of the Iranian people and the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran, praying to the Almighty for the continuous success and guidance of our comrades-in-arms in the IRGC."
