Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian Army have announced retaliatory strikes against US military installations in the region, targeting the Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan, alongside an assembly of US forces.
Key Retaliatory Strikes and Air Defense Action
In a statement, the IRGC confirmed it successfully targeted the early warning radar of the Counter-RAM (C-RAM) air defense system at the Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait, in addition to targeting an assembly point of US troops.
Furthermore, the IRGC announced the downing of an American MQ-9 Reaper drone in the airspace of Andimeshk in the Khuzestan province. According to the statement, these actions were carried out in direct response to US airstrikes that targeted portions of Iran's southern coastline overnight.
The IRGC also dismissed reports by hostile media outlets alleging casualties or damage in the Pakdasht region, clarifying that the explosions heard in the area were strictly due to active air defense operations.
Drone Strikes on Al-Azraq Base in Jordan
In coordination with these operations—and specifically responding to the US attack on an Iranian Army barracks in Iranshahr—the Iranian Army confirmed it deployed kamikaze drones to strike the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan. The strikes targeted:
-
The stationary radar site.
-
US communications systems.
-
US fuel depots.
Impacts of the US Aggression on Iran
Domestically, the spokesperson for Iran’s Crisis Management Headquarters reported that sections of Semnan Airport were damaged by US airstrikes, though residential areas in the province's cities and villages were not hit.
Meanwhile, Fars News Agency reported hearing two explosions near the city of Khendab, located southwest of the capital, Tehran, resulting from US attacks.
For its part, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had "completed a new wave of strikes against Iran", claiming to have targeted command centers, air defense positions, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities.
Context of the Escalation
These developments follow a heavy wave of US airstrikes overnight and during the pre-dawn hours of Thursday, hitting the port of Bandar Abbas, the cities of Rask and Konarak in Sistan and Baluchestan province, multiple locations in Ahvaz, and the vicinity of Qeshm Island.
Iran has maintained that its retaliatory strikes on strategic US bases and installations in the region will continue as long as the US military campaign persists.
US President, Criminal Donald Trump previously declared that American strikes "will continue until I say it's enough," while acknowledging Iran's ongoing capacity to resist. In response to the US operations and the maritime blockade reimposed by the Trump administration, Iran has re-closed the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
